A chemist has two large containers of sulfuric acid solution...?
A chemist has two large containers of sulfuric acid solution, with different concentrations of acid in each container. Blending 300 mL of the first solution and 600 mL of the second gives a mixture that is 45% acid, whereas 100 mL of the first mixed with 500 mL of the second gives 41.5% acid mixture. What are the concentrations of sulfuric acid in the original containers?
to help u understand it, let me give example: if u have a 100mL with 20% concentrationand u add it to another 200mL with 30% concentration, u'll have: total volume= 100+200 = 300mL to find the final concentration, u need to understand that it is relevant to the volume, i.e 0.2*100 + 0.3*200 = C*300 C = 26.6% so, in maths speeking: x: concentration of container a y: concentration of container b c: concentration of mixture Va: the volume used from container a Vb: the volume used from container b V: Total volume (Va + Vb) xVa + yVb = cV so 300x + 600y = 0.45*(300+600) 300x + 600y = 405 .........eq1 and 100x + 500y = 0.415 (100+500) 100x + 500y = 249 .....eq2 solve eq1 & eq2 300 x + 600y = 405 ...............eq1 (100x + 500y = 249) * -3 ...........eq2 -300x - 1500y = -747 add -900y = -342 y = 0.38 substitute in eq1 300 x + 600 (0.38) = 405 x= 0.59 so x = 59% y = 38%
Blendtec WildSide HP3A Blender - 3 Qt (96 oz w/4" Blade) and 2 QT (64 oz) Containers - BLACK
The Blendtec HP3A Blender has automatic blending cycles for ice cream, frozen yogurt, ice crushing, milkshakes, soups, syrups, fondues, sauces, dips, dressings, batters, whole juice, and smoothies. These cycles have variable speed settings that will change during the course of the cycle. This allows the blender to draw the contents into the blending vortex, which creates the desired texture. The blender will run its pre-programmed cycle and automatically shut off. If at any point you want to stop the blender before it has completed its cycle press any lower row button. The HP3A Blender recipe book is designed for an overall average in terms of ice temperature and the amount of liquid typically contained in various fruits and vegetables. Your experience may be different depending on local conditions and you may need to adjust certain recipes to have more or less ice, and higher or lower portions of fruits and vegetables or other ingredients.

12th grade math problem: Finding concentrations of acid?
A chemist has two large containers of sulfuric acid solution, with different concentrations of acid in each container. Blending 300 mL of the first solution and 600 mL of the second gives a mixture that is 45% acid, whereas 100 mL of the first mixed with 500 mL of the second gives 41.5% acid mixture. I need help fast!?! (plz read I no its long but still)?
ok i need to write a abstract for my science fair project it. for you people who dont know what an abstract is its a summary of the project but it needs to be 200-250 words long any help! ideas on how to set it up like results conclusin restated but more depth and not that that was just my example
Conclusion
My hypothesis was incorrect. Besides the appearance of one curve-billed thrasher after the songbird blend birdseed was added to the bird feeder in the wash near my house, there was no difference in the variety of birds attracted to the different bird seeds. The bird feeder being knocked down for a short period of time could have had an impact on the birds attracted there. Also, it is possible that if I were to have conducted my experiment for a longer period of time, I might have had different results. (Note: I know there are other types of songbirds who live in the area, including cardinals and mocking birds, because I have seen them previous to the start of the experiment.)
Question
Do different types of bird seed (Cardinal/Song bird blend and wild finch seed) attract different varieties of birds?
Hypothesis
If I place two different types of bird seed at the same place and for same amount of time then it will attract a different variety of birds because the manufacturer states that the seeds attract different types of birds on label.
Materials
Natures Song Wild Finch seed
Natures Song Cardinal/Songbird blend
Two plastic containers
Two Bird feeders
Binoculars
Ladder
Video camera
Procedures
1)Fill bird feeders and plastic containers with wild finch bird seed.
2)Place one feeder in backyard and set up other with ladder so it is hanging in a tree in a desert wash near house along with containers spread out on the ground.
3)Observe with binoculars every thirty minutes for four days, if any birds film with video camera.
4)Repeat steps exactly with Cardinal/Songbird blend.
thank you
The abstract can be written in a few easy steps: 1) State your hypothesis, and you can add a sentence about the theoretical framework of your study 2) Describe the procedure (aim for 1-3 sentences) 3) Describe your results (2-5 sentences) 5) Describe your analysis of your results (conclusion 1-2 sentences) 6) Add a note about the implications and limitations of your conclusion (the manufacturer's claim is suspect, but further inquiry is required.) Note: Don't feel like you've failed just because your hypothesis was wrong; your conclusion sounds defeatist. Your hypothesis was stated in enthymeme form, which is a fancy way of saying it is a two part statement with an unstated assumption: 1)If I put out birdseed of different sorts, different sorts of birds will come 2) because the manufacturer says that the different sorts of birdseed will attract different sorts of birds. The unstated assumption between these two is that the manufacturer would not make a claim that was dishonest or unsupported by evidence. As a young scientist and critical thinker, you owe it to yourself to consider that the company may have lied to or misled you for the purpose of making money. Wrong answers are still useful in scientific studies because they reveal just as much, if not more, than right answers.
Math problem dealing acid solutions!?
A chemist has two large containers hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution. The concentrations of the acid is different in the two containers. She blends 90 mL of the first solution with 10 mL of the second solution to obtain a solution that is 16.05.% acid. She blends 50 mL of the first solution with 200 mL of the second solution to obtain a solution that is 12.90.% acid. What are the concentrations of hydrochloric acid in the original containers?
90x + 10y = 16.05 50x + 200y = 32.25 1800x + 200y = 321 -50x - 200y = -32.25 1750x = 288.75 x = 0.165 = 16.5% 14.85 + 10y = 16.05 10y = 1.2 y = 0.12 = 12% The concentrations of the two solutions are 16.5% and 12%.
